About Huesort
Huesort is a free colour sort puzzle, the tube-pouring game, built for the browser with no download, no ads and no energy meter. Each tube holds four units of colour. Tap a tube to lift it, tap another to pour: the top colour moves across, as many units as fit, and only onto the same colour or into an empty tube. Sort every colour into its own tube and the level is done.
Sixty levels run through six packs, Pastel, Citrus, Tide, Neon, Ember and Prism, from three colours with two spare tubes to twelve colours, and finally a pack with a single empty tube where every pour has to be deliberate. Every level is scrambled backwards from a sorted state using exact inverses of legal pours, so each one is guaranteed solvable, and a solver then finds a short solution whose length is the level's par.
Finish at or under par for three stars, close to it for two. Undo is free and unlimited, restarting is free, and nothing is timed. Your stars per level are saved in your browser and your star total goes to the public Top 10 under your player name.
It is an original TabSpawn game drawn on a canvas, with glass tubes, a little splash when a tube is completed, and pack-tinted backgrounds. It plays with a tap on a phone or a click on a laptop or Chromebook.
How to play
- Tap a tube to lift it. Tap a second tube to pour the lifted tube's top colour into it.
- A pour is allowed onto the same colour, or into an empty tube, and a tube holds four units.
- Pour until every tube is empty or full of a single colour.
- Match the par move count for three stars. Undo with the button or Z; it costs nothing.
- Use the Levels button to replay any pack for a better star rating.
Controls
| Tap / click a tube | Lift it, or pour into it |
|---|---|
| Z | Undo the last pour |
| R | Restart the level |
| M | Sound on or off |
| N | Next level after a win |
Tips
- Before the first pour, find the colour that is closest to sorted and build that tube first.
- An empty tube is a resource, not a target. Pour into it only to uncover a colour you need.
- If a pour would move only part of a run, look for a second tube to finish the run in the same turn.
