Games like Mini Militia you can play in your browser (free, no download)

Mini Militia has no browser version, so here is what makes that style of game work and how Jetbrawl brings jetpack deathmatch, weapon pickups, bots and private rooms to a tab for free.

Jetbrawl arena: jetpack soldiers trading tracer fire over neon-edged platforms at night

What people mean by a Mini Militia game

Doodle Army 2: Mini Militia is a mobile game, and it defined a small genre of its own: a side-view 2D arena, a jetpack with a fuel bar, a few weapons lying around as pickups, health packs, short rounds and a handful of friends in one room. It was never released for the browser. Sites offering "Mini Militia for PC" usually mean running the Android app inside an emulator, which is a download, an account and a lot of waiting before anyone fires a shot.

If what you want is the feeling rather than the brand, the list of things a browser game has to get right is short. A jetpack that runs out and refills, so flying is a decision rather than a default. Arenas with ledges and one-way platforms, so height matters. Weapons that spawn in fixed spots, so everyone learns where the shotgun lives. Health you have to go and fetch. Rooms a friend can join from a link, bots when nobody is around, and controls that work on a phone as well as a keyboard.

Jetbrawl: the TabSpawn take on jetpack deathmatch

Jetbrawl is an original game built for this site, and it is built around that list. Up to eight players share a room; bots fill the empty seats up to five so a match never waits. There are six maps, from a hangar and a neon skyline to open-sky highlands and a beach lagoon, each with platforms you can drop through and ledges worth holding. Five weapons sit in crates: the pistol never runs dry, and the SMG, shotgun, sniper and rocket launcher each have ammo to manage.

Pickups do more than heal. Medkits restore fifty health, ammo boxes restock everything, a shield absorbs the next fifty damage before your health is touched, a jet boost gives ten seconds of stronger flight that uses no fuel, and double damage makes every hit count twice for ten seconds. You can crouch on solid ground to shrink your hitbox and hide behind a ledge, which is the kind of detail that turns a long sightline into a duel rather than a lottery.

A match ends at twenty kills or five minutes. The simulation runs on a server forty times a second, your own movement is predicted locally so controls feel immediate, and everyone else is smoothed between snapshots. Nothing is downloaded and there is no account: the first time you play, the site offers a random player name you can overwrite, and your best kills per match go to a public Top 10 under that name.

How to play with friends

  1. Open Jetbrawl on TabSpawn and choose a map in the lobby.
  2. Press Private room. The lobby shows a five-letter room code and a link you can copy.
  3. Send the link or the code. Friends paste the code into the Join box on the same page or just open the link.
  4. Bots keep the room busy until your friends arrive and step out as real players join, up to eight.
  5. On a phone, the left stick moves and flies and the right stick aims and fires. On a laptop, A and D move, W or Space flies, S crouches or drops through a platform, the mouse aims and clicks to fire, and Q or the wheel switches weapon.
  6. Alone? Practice vs bots runs the whole game offline in your browser, with no server round trip at all.

Tips that win matches

  • Watch the orange bar. Fuel refills only while you are not flying, so land on a ledge before a fight rather than running dry above one.
  • Hold the high ground with the shotgun or rockets; take a long ledge with the sniper and crouch so your target is smaller than theirs.
  • Grab the shield before you push, not after. Fifty absorbed damage is the difference in most trades.
  • A jet boost is a chase tool. Pick it up when someone runs on low health and you will catch them.
  • Medkits heal you and deny the player behind you. Take them even at full health if an enemy is close.
  • Press S on a wooden platform to drop through it. It is the fastest escape from a rocket.

What Jetbrawl is not

It is not a copy of Mini Militia and it contains none of that game's content, maps or characters. There are no in-app purchases, no ads and no energy timers; everyone has the same weapons, found in the same places. Rooms are public or private, nothing more. If you want the original mobile game, buy it from its publisher; if you want to play that style of match with people in a tab, in the next thirty seconds, this is what Jetbrawl is for.

Questions

Is there a Mini Militia game for PC that runs in the browser?

No official one. Mini Militia is a mobile app. Jetbrawl is a browser game in the same style: jetpacks, weapon pickups, rooms with friends and bots, with nothing to install.

Can I play Jetbrawl with friends on phones?

Yes. Create a private room, share the link or the five-letter code, and up to eight people can join from phones, Chromebooks or laptops. Touch sticks appear automatically on phones.

Does Jetbrawl need an account or a download?

No. The page offers a random player name on first play, which you can change, and that is all. Scores go to a public Top 10 under that name.

What happens if I am the only player?

Quick play fills the room with bots up to five players, and Practice vs bots runs entirely offline in your browser.
